This is a "Mommy survey" from Facebook -- I like sharing that stuff here, for those who aren't on Facebook yet.
1. WAS YOUR FIRST PREGNANCY PLANNED? Nope, he was “early”! We didn’t plan on having kids for about 2 years after we got married.
2. WERE YOU MARRIED AT THE TIME? Yes, for all of 2 months!
3. WHAT WERE YOUR REACTIONS? Surprised and pleased – both of us were.
4. WAS ABORTION AN OPTION FOR YOU? Absolutely not.
5. HOW OLD WERE YOU? 20 years, 4 months.
6. HOW DID YOU FIND OUT YOU WERE PREGNANT? I was queasy in the mornings, and had cramps at weird times.
7. WHO DID YOU TELL FIRST? My husband, then my parents, then his parents.
8. DID YOU WANT TO FIND OUT THE SEX? No. Besides, they didn’t do ultrasounds as a regular thing then, unless there were complications with the pregnancy.
9. DUE DATE? August 11, 1983.
10. DID YOU HAVE MORNING SICKNESS? Not so much. Just a little queasy.
11. WHAT DID YOU CRAVE? Cantaloupe, strawberries, any fresh fruit like that, and Yodels. Not at the same time.
12. WHO/WHAT IRRITATED YOU THE MOST? The fact that I was alone for much of my pregnancy – my husband (at the time) traveled a lot, and he was stationed in England, so I spent a lot of time on my own. Also, the smell of things that were bad for me irritated me no end – coffee, cigarettes, meat that was almost going bad…
13. WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST CHILD'S SEX? Boy
14. DID YOU WISH YOU HAD THE OPPOSITE SEX OF WHAT YOU WERE GETTING? Nope. I really was just happy that he was healthy.
15. HOW MANY POUNDS DID YOU GAIN THROUGHOUT THE PREGNANCY? 30 lbs.
16. DID YOU HAVE A BABY SHOWER? Yes, sort of! My mother and sisters had one for me in NJ, and my sister Kit opened the presents for me! They then packed everything in a box, along with tons of pictures, and sent them on to me. It was the next best thing!
17. WAS IT A SURPRISE OR DID YOU KNOW? I knew – my mom had told me ahead of time.
18. DID YOU HAVE ANY COMPLICATIONS DURING YOUR PREGNANCY? None at all. The midwife frequently said I was made to have babies. I think that means I have big hips… {{sigh}}
19. WHERE DID YOU GIVE BIRTH? RAF Lakenheath military hospital, England.
20. HOW MANY HOURS WERE YOU IN LABOR? 14 hours. Back labor. I hold it over my son’s head periodically.
21. WHO DROVE YOU TO THE HOSPITAL? Bill (my husband)
22. WHO WATCHED YOU GIVE BIRTH? Bill. And about 6 doctors. And my midwife. And unnumbered nurses. A real private moment.
23. WAS IT NATURAL OR C-SECTION? Natural, with Lamaze breathing. Again with the “made to have babies” thing. Didn’t even need an episiotomy – just a few stitches where the little dear kicked me on the way out!
24. DID YOU TAKE MEDICINE TO EASE THE PAIN? Nope. Just to help me sleep between contractions.
27. HOW MUCH DID YOUR CHILD WEIGH? 8 lbs, 10 oz.
28. WHEN WAS YOUR CHILD ACTUALLY BORN ? August 8, 1983, at 6:10 pm England time.
30. WHAT DID YOU NAME HIM/HER? William John Morgan. William for his father’s family, John for my dad.
31. HOW OLD IS YOUR FIRST BORN TODAY? My little boy is 25!
